Media Unable to Discern Fact from Fiction Regarding John Brennan

In the aftermath of my interview on the Tom Trento show last week, some in the media seem unable or unwilling to grasp some basic facts about the threat environment in America these days. In response to numerous omissions in the dozens of stories covering my interview stating that John Brennan is “Unfit” to be the next Director of Central Intelligence, please allow me to share facts and evidence with you about our threat landscape.

The largest terrorism financing and Hamas trial in U.S. history was U.S. v Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), which was adjudicated in 2008 in Dallas, Texas. HLF and its leadership were found guilty of funneling over $12 million directly to Hamas. At the time it was indicted, HLF was the largest Islamic charity in America. A great deal of evidence entered into the HLF trial came from material uncovered during an FBI raid in Annandale, VA in 2004 where the archives of the Muslim Brotherhood in North America were discovered. These strategic documents, financial documents, audio/video tapes, photos and the like revealed the Muslim Brotherhood’s strategies, plans, tactics, organizations, and leadership in America. Evidence revealed the very first Islamic organization formed in America – the Muslim Students Association (MSA) – was formed in 1963 by the Muslim Brotherhood. Today, there are over 600 MSA chapters across the U.S. From the MSA, the largest and most prominent Islamic organizations in the U.S. were created by the Muslim Brotherhood including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and others. NAIT holds the title/deeds to many of the Islamic Centers in America today. Hamas is a Muslim Brotherhood (MB) organization, and wherever the MB exists, like in the U.S., the Special Section is always present. The Special Section is the unit within the MB which conducts military operations – what we call “terrorism.”

Additionally, evidence was entered from the 1993 meeting of the U.S. Palestine Committee (HAMAS) in Philadelphia including numerous recorded conversations. The FBI leadership and internal documents state this meeting was “a meeting…among senior leaders of Hamas, the HLFRD, and the IAP,” and “all attendees of this meeting are Hamas members.” The current director of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Nihad Awad, was at that meeting, and was recorded during numerous meetings among the Hamas leaders. CAIR is a Hamas organization that formed out of its original Hamas cover name, the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP). Awad’s name also appears on a list of Hamas leaders in America discovered at the 2004 FBI raid in Virginia.

Prosecutors in the HLF trial identified ISNA as having provided “financial support to Hamas.” The federal judge in the HLF case ruled “the Government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA, and NAIT with HLF, the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP), and with Hamas.” Some of the best evidence against ISNA is hundreds of documents showing money going directly from ISNA bank accounts to Hamas overseas. There is no gray area here.

John Brennan has given access for CAIR’s Nihad Awad to meet with and brief members of the National Security staffs. Under John Brennan’s direction, the President of ISNA Mohamed Magid sits on the Homeland Security Advisory Committee, has met with National Security staffs, attends meetings at the White House, and provides input to senior U.S. government officials on our Counterterrorism strategies. He was actually hailed as being very helpful to U.S. leaders in a speech given by Deputy National Security Advisor, now Chief of Staff to the President, Denis McDonough at Imam Magid’s Islamic Center in Sterling, Virginia.

There are dozens of other examples of Muslim Brotherhood operatives and terrorists gaining access to U.S. leaders via Mr. Brennan, but these should serve to demonstrate there is a serious breach of security that is going unchallenged inside the U.S. government.

In the past couple days, these facts are absent from news reports on Mr. Brennan or my interview. Instead, some outlets, such as U.S. News, quote Hamas operative Ibrahim Hooper (CAIR) without mentioning the fact his organization is a Hamas front. Hamas of course is a designated terrorist organization.

Let us continue this discussion with facts on the table.

About John Guandolo

John Guandolo is the President and Founder of Guandolo Associates LLC, an organization dedicated to providing strategic and operational threat-focused consultation, education, and training for federal, state and local leadership and agencies. Mr. Guandolo is a 1989 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and took a commission as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. From 1996-2000, he primarily conducted narcotics investigations domestically and overseas. In 2001, he served for one year as the FBI Liaison to the U.S. Capitol Police investigating threats on the President, Vice-President, Members of Congress and other high-level government officials. Shortly after 9/11, Mr. Guandolo began an assignment to the Counterterrorism Division of the FBI’s Washington Field Office developing an expertise in the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic Doctrine, the global Islamic Movement, and a myriad of terrorist organizations to include Hamas, Al Qaeda, and others. In 2006, Mr. Guandolo created and implemented the FBI’s first Counterterrorism Training/Education Program focusing on the Muslim Brotherhood and their subversive movement in the United States, Islamic Doctrine, and the global Islamic Movement. He was designated a “Subject Matter Expert” by FBI Headquarters. This course was hailed as “groundbreaking” by the FBI’s Executive Assistant Director in a brief to the Vice President’s National Security Staff. For his efforts, in 2007 Mr. Guandolo was presented the “Defender of the Homeland” Award by U.S. Senators John Kyl and Joseph Lieberman on behalf of the Center for Security Policy in Washington, D.C. While in the FBI, Mr. Guandolo received two (2) United States Attorney’s Awards for Investigative Excellence. Mr. Guandolo served on the Washington Field Office SWAT team for over nine years and as its Team Leader for three of those years. He was a certified Undercover Agent, and served in a variety of assignments in that capacity. Mr. Guandolo was a Nationally Registered Paramedic, a First Aid Instructor, and served as an “Advanced Capability Medic” with the FBI. His career has included significant overseas travel to include many areas of Africa, Southwest Asia, Europe and elsewhere. In his last year and a half in the FBI, Mr. Guandolo served on a Surveillance Unit. Mr. Guandolo advises governments – U.S. and others - on matters related to National Security, specifically the threat from the Global Islamic Movement. He actively advises members of Congress, law enforcement, the intelligence community, military, National Guard, key community leaders, and others. He served as an adjunct instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College and the U.S. Army War College, and is one of the authors of the “Shariah – The Threat to America,” the first comprehensive book on the threat from the Islamic Movement in the U.S. He has appeared on television and radio, and regularly publishes articles related to these matters in a number of media outlets.
